Treatment FAQs

Semi-Permanent Make Up

Absolutely not! This is a question we often get asked when people come in for a consultation for permanent cosmetic brow makeup.

We can assure you that this does not happen, and your natural brows will remain firmly intact.

As you can see from the photo, we gently remove any untidy hair outside the basic line – just as if you were having a brow wax!

We can then see the final shape clearly before drawing your perfect brow ready for tattooing.

Avoid natural sunlight and sunbed exposure on the treated area for at least seven days before AND after the treatment date and definitely until the skin is fully healed. Use a minimum SPF30 on the treated area after it has healed, as exposure to the sun can cause discolouration and fading of the pigment.

Yes, Semi-Permanent Make-Up is completely safe. Working to strict clinically hygienic standards using sterile equipment, only fully trained and experienced professionals carry out our treatments.

Your Semi-Permanent Make-Up colour will be considerably stronger immediately after the treatment, but it will soften to a more natural shade in time. It is not unusual for lips to appear swollen immediately after the first treatment, but they will return to the natural size and shape within a few days.

It is advisable to avoid alcohol and caffeine the night before and the day of the treatment, as alcohol and caffeine consumption can affect pigment retention.

You should be able to return to work immediately after your treatment. Lips can be more swollen than normal immediately after the treatment so you may want to take this into consideration. As long as your work allows you to adhere to the aftercare instructions, then there are no restrictions on your return to work.

Due to the pigment in the skin and the impact, if it is exposed to laser light, it is NOT safe to carry out laser hair removal on areas close to those with Semi-Permanent Make-Up.

No. If worn, lash extensions should be removed at least one week before the treatment.

Every client is different, but as a general rule and from experience, clients tend to find eyebrow treatments the most comfortable, with eyeliner and lips usually a little more uncomfortable depending on sensitivity. A topical anaesthetic is applied throughout the treatment, and your specialist will be aware of any areas that are becoming increasingly sensitive during the treatment and will work accordingly to ensure optimum results with minimal discomfort.

At the time of your treatment, you will be given full aftercare instructions. To ensure optimum results, please ensure you follow the aftercare advice given during your appointment and on the aftercare leaflet provided.

You will have to wait until your skin is fully healed before wearing any make-up. Make-up can be worn on surrounding areas, but the area which has been treated should be kept make-up free until fully healed.

Semi-Permanent Make-Up typically lasts between 12 to 36 months. Regular annual colour boosts are recommended to keep the make-up looking at it’s very best. Please be aware that even though it is called Semi-Permanent Make-Up, it is highly unlikely that the pigment will completely disappear and the skin will revert to its pre-tattooed state even after 36 months.

If you regularly have tint applied to eyebrows or eyelashes, please ensure that the area is kept tint-free for at least 7 days prior to, and 14 days after the treatment.

The National Blood Service currently request that donors wait for 4 months after having Semi-Permanent Make-Up before giving blood.

Not at the same time because there needs to be at least 4 weeks between the treatments. However, if you’re interested in adding fillers as well as having semi-permanent lips, please discuss this with us during your consultation to ensure you achieve optimum results from your semi-permanent makeup.

Scalp Micro-pigmentation

Whilst Scalp Micro-pigmentation is not pain-free, it is not a particularly uncomfortable procedure – as with any treatment, everyone has a different pain threshold, some clients feel minimal discomfort and other clients feel varying degrees of discomfort. We offer a complimentary patch test during the consultation and this will give an indication of how the treatment will feel.

It is helpful for the client to attend the consultation with some hair growth, so the practitioner can assess the natural hair growth and hair loss. The area will be shaved for the patch test. During the treatment session itself the practitioner will require a shaved head in order to provide the best results.

The number of sessions required to remove the tattoo, and the success of the removal depends on each individual and their immune function amongst other factors. Your practitioner will discuss this during your consultation.

In simple terms, yes, scalp micro-pigmentation most definitely achieves natural looking hair. It is ideal for both those who are experiencing hair thinning and complete hair loss. However, before making your decision on whether the treatment is the most effective route for you, there are a number of considerations that you must keep in mind. Spending time researching into the types of scalp-micro pigmentation will guarantee that your results will be as discrete and natural as possible.

How Does Scalp Micro-Pigmentation Achieve Natural Looking Hair?

Before delving too deep into the treatment, it is important to highlight that scalp micro-pigmentation does not create hair or encourage regrowth. The procedure, instead, creates the appearance of hair through strategically placing ink on the treatment area to create a shadow. The area can be as small or large as you require. Some clients opt for merely filling in an area which is experiencing thinning, while others treat the entire scalp.

Here at Bianco Beauty, we have had years of experience specialising in scalp micro-pigmentation in Milton Keynes. We utilise an innovative hand-held, pen-like device to apply ink to the skin in tiny, layered dots. The colour of the ink is perfectly colour-matched to fit with both your natural hair shade and skin tone, to ensure that results remain natural. Our scalp micro-pigmentation technician will place the ink in your follicles, ensuring that the colour follows your natural hair growth pattern. The tip of the pen can also be altered in size to fit with your hair density. Together, these techniques create the illusion of depth and definition, similar to the appearance of a ‘stubble’ of hair.

When considering scalp micro-pigmentation, it is vital to keep in mind that the procedure will slightly alter based on your hair type, coarseness, colour and skin tone. This will determine how many sessions you require, along with the method of application that your technician uses. Below is an overview of what to expect for both dark and fair hair in order to achieve natural results.

Scalp Micro-Pigmentation For Dark Hair

Due to the nature of the follicles, it is often easier to achieve natural results on those with darker hair. This is because, along with darker hair, often comes increased thickness and a coarse texture. The combination of dark, thick and coarse hair makes the follicules larger meaning that when ink is applied to the skin, the ‘dots’ can be more prominent. The technician is able to use deeper ink shades and a larger pen from the initial session, meaning that results will be visible quicker. Further appointments will be more revolved around topping up the colour and refining the shape, rather than layering ink for a more realistic appearance.

If you have darker hair and are considering scalp micro-pigmentation, bear in mind that your hairline will have to be a little more defined rather than faded into the scalp. Over time, the ink will naturally fade, so to you ensure that your results remain visible, a more defined hairline is vital.

Scalp Micro-Pigmentation For Fair Hair

Many assume that those with light, fair hair are unable to book in for scalp-micro pigmentation, but this is most definitely not the case. Thanks to the constant evolution of technology and equipment capabilities, individuals with a lighter tone are now able to achieve just as natural results. There are currently over 60 different variations in ink shades, which means that your technician will colour match both your hair and skin tone to guarantee seamless results.

When beginning sessions, your technician will start with a lighter shade than your hair to create a foundation, which they will then build up over a period of appointments. You want to avoid going straight in with a darker shade, even if this is what you would like, to prevent results from looking unnatural. They will then carefully add tiny “dots” of ink to your follicles to match your natural hair growth pattern. Some of the most undetectable scalp micro-pigmentation results are, in fact, on those with fair hair as the process must be completed considerably more delicately.

If you decide that you would like your scalp micro-pigmentation ink to the slightly darker than your natural shade, it is imperative to keep in mind that you need to stay clean-shaven. If the ink is applied to the scalp in one colour, then, for example, your beard grows in a different shade, then this will cause a clash and appear unnatural.

Unlike those with darker hair, a faded hairline is required for individuals with a lighter tone. This will allow the ink to blend seamlessly into your appearance, ensuring that your treatment is as discrete as possible.

The three main lasers we use for tattoo removal are our Passive Nano Q-switch laser, Pico laserand Quanta System Q-Plus C MT Laser

During an initial consultation, your tattoo and skin type will be analysed by our practitioners, who will select the best treatment option for you. You will also be offered a patch test so that the practitioner can see how your skin responds to the suggested treatment.

What is the difference between the Passive, Pico and Quanta laser tattoo removal machines?

There are some differences in the composition and science behind these lasers, but these differences don’t mean very much unless you’re a laser technician or enthusiast. What matters to someone looking to have laser tattoo removal is how these lasers impact your removal journey in different ways.

Passive Nano Q-Switch Laser

If short-term cost is your biggest concern, then the Passive Nano laser may be a good option. With the lowest running and maintenance costs, this is the cheapest cost-per-session option for laser tattoo removal. However, due to the restricted technology, it may take you a lot longer to complete your sessions.

Pros:

  • Lowest cost-per-session, starting from just £25
  • Great at removing dense, black ink

Cons:

  • May not be appropriate for colour tattoos
  • May not be capable of removing fainter tattoos
  • Longer removal journey

Pico Laser

The Pico laser is extremely versatile and capable of removing colour tattoos as well as treating tattoos on darker skin types. This laser has the ability to break down ink into much smaller particles than some other machines, meaning it can remove more faded and partially removed tattoos entirely.

Pros:

  • Can treat a wider variety of tattoos on different skin types
  • Can remove tattoos from start to finish
  • Generally requires fewer sessions than the passive laser

Cons:

  • More expensive per session (although more cost-effective in the long run)

Quanta System Q-Plus C MT Laser

The Quanta laser is highly recognised with advanced capabilities, similar to the Pico Laser. Its stellar reputation as a versatile laser that can remove even the trickiest tattoos is thanks to its mixture of wavelengths and handpiece options; however, it is also the most expensive per session.

Pros:

  • One of the most reputable and recognised lasers in the industry
  • Can treat a wider variety of tattoos on different skin types
  • Can remove tattoos from start to finish
  • Generally requires fewer sessions than the passive laser

When you have a laser tattoo removal treatment, it is vital that you treat the area with care while it heals. The more you care for the treated area, the better it will heal, and the less likely it is to cause bad scarring. To make sure that you can treat the area correctly and that it heals quickly and safely, here are some tattoo removal aftercare tips.

Tattoo Removal Aftercare

After you have a had a laser tattoo removal in Milton Keynes or the surrounding areas, it is important that you maintain care afterwards to ensure that it heals safely and looks the best it can. You may experience slight blistering or scabbing after your treatments, so knowing how to treat these areas is vital to its end result. Although you will still be able to clean the area as normal the day after the treatment, you will still need to be careful not to over soak or scrub the area as it is likely that a scab will form. To make sure that your treated area does not get infected and looks its best, follow this aftercare advice.

Be Cautions

Being cautious of the treated area is extremely important within the first few days, any knock or bump in the area may not only cause the wound to open but can also be painful. Make sure that when you arrive at your tattoo removal session, that you wear loose and clean clothing over the area that you will be having treatment, ensure that you also do this for the first few days after. This will make sure that your clothing does not irritate the area and can help you to avoid getting fluff in the wound.

If it is in an area where rubbing is likely and unavoidable, such as where your trousers lay, then our professional team will make sure that you know how to bandage the area while it heals. Using a bandage is very unlikely, and we find that most of our clients that care for their treated area, do not have any problems.

Do Not Remove Scabs

It is important that you do not remove any scabbing that may occur over the treated area. If you remove the crusty skin or scabs from the treated area, then it will take longer to heal, may get infected and could even leave worse scarring. Blistering and scabbing is very common with laser tattoo removal, but you should make sure to contact us if you feel that your treated area looks abnormal or is causing you any particular discomfort.

Exercising After Treatment

Being able to exercise after your treatment completely depends on the location of your treated area, how long it takes to heal, and whether you feel comfortable. We find that most of our patients can resume to their normal exercising activities two days after their treatment, as long as it is not on their lower torso or on the side of their ribs. The reason for this is because these are areas are likely to experience rubbing when exercising.

Although exercising is not completely off-limits after your treatments, you should try to avoid activity that will make you sweat, as this can cause the area to swell and even increase the risk of infection. You will need to make sure that you do everything you can to avoid affecting the healing process of the treated area, so we would advise that you do not intensively exercise for around a week after treatment.

Protect Your Skin From The Sun

Once you have had your treatment, it is important that you try to avoid allowing the treated area to have contact with the sun. After your treatment, your skin will be more sensitive than usual, meaning that if the treatment area comes into contact with the sun and ends up burning, it can cause pain, irritation and possible blistering.

You can protect the area by wearing clothing that covers the treated area or wear a high SPF sunscreen. If the area is in a location that is hard to cover during summertime, such as your wrist, you can also cover the area with a bandage to try and avoid painful sunburn. If it is possible, try to avoid any sun exposure on the treated area while it is in the healing process, as this can affect its outcome.

Showering Products

As previously said, you should try and avoid soaking the area in water for long periods of time as this can affect the healing. Along with this, you should also try and use shower gels that have a balanced Ph, as this is less likely to irritate the skin. For example, you could use shower gel such as Protex soap. Once you have had a shower, make sure that you gently pat down the area to ensure that it is dry.

When you are touching the area of treatment, you should also make sure that your hands are thoroughly washed beforehand. When washing your hands, make sure that you get right into the nails and wash with an anti-bacterial hand wash. You can follow Centres for Disease Control and Prevention’s hand guide on hand washing.
